Welcome to the Gardeners Club

June 2003

The winners of this month's Garden Of The Month title are Olive and Bob Thompson.

Olive and Bob purchased Little Cob, a thatched cottge in a Devon village, in the early eighties and although the garden was thriving it lacked that cottage look. Since then they have replaced about eighty per cent of the plants. The cottage is late sixteenth century and certainly shows its appreciation of the present planting mix. The garden is fairly small, just 60x60ft.

They built a small greenhouse themselves and take cuttings of most plants and shrubs to keep the garden
stocked. The soil is very stony and tending to clay
but the plants seem to tolerate this. The garden has a
south facing aspect which is good for light and the sun
although it can suffer from the winds.

If you think your garden could be up for next month's title, use the information on the main 'Garden Of The Month' page below to let us know all about it.
